ChatGPT: In just two months, Open AI ChatGPT has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the fastest-growing app worldwide, with a record-breaking 100 million users.

In an impressive achievement, ChatGPT, a well-known AI chatbot, has reportedly amassed a staggering 100 million users within just two months of its launch. According to a report from SimilarWeb, the chatbot attracted an average of 13 million daily users in January. This milestone puts ChatGPT ahead of other popular social media apps like Instagram and TikTok, which took 2.5 years and 9 months, respectively, to reach the same number of users.

OpenAI, which is backed by Elon Musk, created ChatGPT in December of last year. This AI chatbot is designed to respond with detailed answers based on prompts given to it. Users can easily begin using the chatbot by submitting their inquiries to it.

UBS researchers, drawing from Similarweb data, observed that they cannot recall a consumer internet app that experienced a faster rise than ChatGPT in the 20 years since the advent of the Internet. To provide a comparison, it took TikTok 9 months to reach 100 million monthly users, while Instagram took approximately 2.5 years.

Similarweb has estimated that chat.openai.com has garnered roughly 25 million daily visitors over the past week. Furthermore, traffic to the site has been growing at an average of 3.4% per day over the past month. On January 31, the site reportedly peaked at 28 million visits from 15.7 million unique visitors.

This impressive growth rate is a cause for concern among established internet giants, including Google. During an earnings call, Google CEO Sundar Pichai alluded to this development, frequently mentioning the capabilities of AI and how ChatGPT has generated immense user interest. “AI is the most profound technology we are working on today,” Pichai remarked.

In response to ChatGPT’s success, China’s Baidu has announced its own plans to develop a rival chatbot. The company aims to leverage the latest AI technologies to create a platform that can rival ChatGPT. This indicates that the competition among AI chatbots is likely to intensify as more companies seek to capitalize on the growing interest in these technologies.
